On a cold November day, we bundled up and headed out of our RV campground in Las Vegas for a hike through Red Rock Canyon on the White Loop trail.  RVing provides us with these opportunities to combine our enjoyment of sight-seeing and outdoor activities like hiking.  Today, the first order of business was to take in the contrasting colors of red and white as we approached the trail of our six mile endeavor.  Pictures failed to do justice to the beauty of the natural high desert scenery.

The trail was neither flat, nor overly steep.  The long hike felt like just the right amount of difficulty to get a good workout while you soak in all the views of the sky and terrain.  The recommendation was to begin late morning, especially if hiking this one during the hotter months.  By starting at the White Rock parking lot, hiking halfway, we arrived at a perfect stop for lunch.

The hike is most known for the diverse changes in vegetation, but on this visit, the notable views were of the clouds in the sky and the shadow of the sun against the rock.  We marveled at some of the "flying saucer" shaped clouds that we later learned were lenticular. The hike passed quickly with each scenic change; from rocky trail to heavier vegetation to cloudy skies.  Arrival back at our RV gave us one more reason to say again how much we enjoy the passing of days like these.  Happy hiking.  Happy RV lifestyle.

Going down the Rogue River in Oregon on the Hellgate tour was a thrill!  We took the whole family for the dinner cruise.  Good food and plenty of splash from the 360 degree boat turns afterward.  It was a day to remember.  Thanks for the tip!
